2022Roes Elegance will change to Natascha Roes Design
Uncategorized posted by admin / 0 commentsI’m very excited to anounce that we are currently in the process of revamping my website, as my company name Roes Elegance will change into Natascha Roes Design.
I feel it’s also time to make my publications congruent to who I am.
The most profound change happens when you name your company after oneself.
Not only is there a person who carries my name, being me, but also a company now carries the same name.
Whatever I will do or create, everything will relate back to the same name, the same person.
So let me introduce you to who I am, the person behind the company Natascha Roes Design.
First and foremost, I see myself as being an Intuit Designer, someone who will not only listen to my client’s wish list and dreams for their home, but even more so in the process of getting to know my client, and the home that I’m creating, I’m connecting on all levels to the spaces in which I work.
So I will feel my way not only through all the senses, I will feel also on an emotional and intuitive level, which colours for example will go for a certain room or based on a colour that my client’s really loves, I will look for the connecting colours that will tie in everything together, as in the end emotions are reflected through colours.
And colours will stir emotions.
They get translated not only in paint colours or wall papers on the wall, but even more so in the items that have such a tactile inpact, as fabrics used for curtains, fabric or leather patterns on a chair, flowers in a vase, or a scatter cushion decorated with a myrriad of sumptious trimmings that will tell their own story.
Colours do have such an impact, that the minute you walk into someone’s home, they are inviting you into someone’s inner space and will create feelings of connection, harmony and belonging.
One of my clients told me, after we finished the entrance hall, living room and dining room, that her guests told her that her home feels serene and harmonious.
Colours even might create an experience that is life affirming, as one of my clients told me after we painted her master bedroom deep old rose pink, that her love life which had been laying dormant for many years inside her relationship, was suddenly waking up again.
On the other hand I like to look beyond the obvious, and to look beyond the object, in order to create the synergy between objects and people.
What might have been a coffee table once, could end up on the wall as a new piece of artwork.
This happened to another client who called me in to rework the layout and furniture arrangements for her main living room.
For some reason, she couldn’t make this room work after having lived in this house for the past 3 years, as she was unable to put her finger on why the room didn’t work out, no matter what she did.
Ater having painted the room in a relaxing and inviting blue-ish tone, shifted the artwork and the grand piano around the room, added sheer linen curtains, reupholstered the sofas and chairs, we suddenly were stuck with this monster of a coffee table.
It didn’t fit with the new layout, as it was too big and it was not elegant enough, as the new look of the living room was more refined.
But it did have an intricate weaving made out of brass on the front, since the table was made out of an original Indian wooden door, to which the original furniture manufacturer had added 4 wooden legs and a glass top, so it would function as a coffee table.
When the husband came home that day, he was asking my client if she had purchased a new piece of artwork on the wall, as this looked really cool.
She said, no darling, this was our coffee table, but Natascha took off the legs and has hung it on the wall!!
And this is what Interior Design is all about, by listening and tuning into people and their surroundings, no matter what their background is.
Especially here in Dubai, we have a beautiful mix of cultures, so I even more value the items that people collect and cherish, bringing their cultural heritage with them from their home countries or from their travels.
This makes that I would define my design style from Eclectic Chic to Contemporary Elegance.
My strength is that I create from the ground up, by first stripping away the layers that are not serving a purpose, and then start to build back layer upon layer, from floor to wall finishes, to furniture items, to fabrics and as final touch artworks and accessories.
I create the framework which leaves enough space for my clients to add the final touches with the personal items that they cherish so much.
The story that a finished room or home will tell, will be one that my clients love to tell the admirers of their newly designed homes, one that leaves room for imagination and a touch of magic.
See you during my next musings…
